bathGiving a baht to a baby is a very sensitive and important matter to us. If you want to give a bath to your baby without any preparation it may become very harmful for you baby. Moreover, if you do not follow the proper rules and regulation for baby bath, sometimes it may cause of your baby’s death. So, before give a bath to your sweet baby, at first know the rules and regulation that how you can maintain minimum preparation for giving a suitable baby bath.

For baby bath water temperature is very important because cold water may cause of common cold for your sweet baby. On the contrary, very warm water may burn your baby’s soft tender skin. So, before pouring water or before giving a bath in a bathtub; you should check the temperature of water in order to make an ideal temperature for your baby’s bath. It is better to make the water temperature lukewarm but if you manage the water temperature equal to baby’s temperature; it will be the best though sometimes it depends on the environment condition for instance one can use slightly cold in summer whereas slightly warm in winter.

At the time of giving bath you should not move your eyes, even a moment, from your baby’s because it may become the threat of your baby’s life and health. Therefore, you must have everything ready such as diaper, shampoo, soap, cotton balls, washcloth and so on beside bathtub so that you can easily collect them without any hassle. You should use tearless baby shampoo or soap so that in does not produce any irritation or tears if shampoo or soap goes accidentally into the baby’s eye.

You should wash baby’s body very carefully. Moreover, you should pay especial attention when you wash its face. You should not apply a bar of soap directly. The best way for that you may take soap in your hand, rubbing the soap very gently into your both hands. After that keep down the soap and apply your hand to your baby’s soft face. You should not keep the soap longer period over your baby’s face because there is a possibility to go soap into its stomach with saliva and cause an infection. It is not necessary to apply soap all day in its face.

After completing its bath, you should spread a towel on the bed or dry floor and softly pick your baby up and put on the towel. Then you should take another soft towel and start gently and smoothly wiping off the water. Moreover, you should keep your mind that your baby’s skin is tender so you should not wipe its body harshly because there is a risk that it may harm you baby’s soft tender skin. Therefore it is better to do it gently. Here is a better idea for wiping, you should put on and off the towel in stead of rubbing it over its body. After that you may apply baby oil, lotion or powder what is necessary; then you can dress your baby.

Buckling-up in the UK

Baby Car SeatThe first journey for you and your little one is always worrying and the trails and tribulations involved in getting a car seat, fitting a car seat and then using a car seat are well documented. When researching this article I was overwhelmed by the number of parent forums discussing this.

When it comes to baby products safety should always come above both cost, and aesthetics. To help parents still a little unsure what the specific law in the UK is – here is a basic summary:

  • All children under 3 years old must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in any car.
  • Children above the age of 3 years and up to 135 cms tall have to use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in any vehicles fitted with seat belts (very few exceptions are permitted).
  • Baby seats which are rear-facing must not be used with active frontal air-bags.
  • When seat belts are in a vehicle, the number of people carried in the rear of that vehicle must not exceed the number of seats available which have been fitted with seat belts or child restraints (this part is to apply from May 2009);

The UK’s standards and regulations regarding traveling with babies and children are actually reassuringly strict. In May 2006 new regulations were bought in to comply with the EU directive.  Stephan Ladyman, the then Road Safety Minister believed the new laws would save up to 2000 child deaths and injuries every year. “Small children,” he said explained, “need the protection that baby seats and child seats are designed to provide. Seat belts are designed for adults. Children who have grown out of child seats still need to use booster seats and booster cushions.”

Mark Blewett from Babyoka.co.uk, a supplier of a vast range of select baby products including fully compliant baby seats worries that although many companies advertising cheap baby seats from abroad have very competitive prices; the lax regulations mean that the quality doesn’t ensure safety: “Lots of people are buying car seats from America and Europe and these areas have different laws and safety standards. One key difference is that UK safety approved car seats are far more resistant to fire and much less likely to catch fire in an accident. We are actually just about to launch a Strapped-in campaign and hope to get other companies to commit to only sell car seats with the necessary UK kite marks.”

Mark Blewett from Babyoka explains further that, “all modern car seats sold in the UK must comply with the strict EU directive. Baby seats from afar often adhere to their own countries regulations which do not reflect our country’s, rightly imposed, emphasis on safety. You must be so careful buying seats off the internet for this reason.”

When you think for babies bedding at first you have to choose a perfect room. Your baby’s room must be hygienic and ensure day light available. The room should be a center place where everyone can monitor the room easily for your baby’s security. Safety is the most important part when you plan to decorate babies room with different sorts of furniture, various essential accessories and other home equipment. You should buy the best one for babies as your budget to ensure the baby more comfortable.

When you design to decorate baby’s room you cannot think without crib. You may also purchase easy chair, table, dressers, diaper holder, toy boxes, wastebaskets, clocks, nightlights, clothes hamper etc. when you decorate any baby’s room, put the crib center of the room and other furniture set up all around it so that baby can easily get all set-up around it.

Babies spend most of their times in sleeping. Therefore bedding play more vital role than toys and other furniture. For babies bedding it is better to choose cotton material or fabric because cotton is helpful for human skin and body as well as its comfortable for babies. Cotton beddings are easy to wash and comfort to carrying and its durability is longer than others. You may use mattress, which should be firm not hard and it should fit in the crib tightly. It must be adjustable to pick up your baby easily. You may use special water proof cover to protect bedding. On the other hand, always keep in your mind that all of furniture, wall, and bed sheet must be in same color combination because it gives to babies more pleasure and comfort but you may use different type of color combination as your requirement.

Necessity of Breastfeeding

breastfeedingMost of us know that breastfeed is helpful for both mother and her toddler. But many mothers ignore the truth. There is a very important reason why mothers should breastfeed their babies because it may prevent the kid from developing heart disease in its future life.

Recently a study has discovered that babies who get breastfed at least for the recommended six months, they have lower cholesterol levels in later life. Moreover it cut their risk of contracting coronary artery disease.

The researchers find out that early exposure to the high cholesterol content of human milk affects how one’s body copes with cholesterol in the long-term. On the other hand, Dr Chris Owen said, “Initial breastfeeding, particularly when exclusive, is associated with lower blood cholesterol concentrations in later life, compared to initial formula feeding,” in ‘The Daily Telegraph’.

Dr Owen along with colleagues at University of London made the conclusion after analyzing the data of over 17,000 adult people in Britain. The team got those who were breastfed absolutely had lower cholesterol levels than those who only fed on formula milk.

Dr Owen added, every woman should breastfeed her toddler if she can since the proven long-term benefits for her child health. If truth be told, those women who breastfeed have a lower risk level of developing breast cancer than others and babies are also less probable to be obese.

This study proof that breastfeeding has a long-term health benefits for one’s toddler and reduce her health risk as well.  So every mother should careful about breastfeeding and provide it her child sufficiently in stead of formula milk.
